TpT-Tuesday Category Sort 2

Tuesday, June 18, 2013

Today's TpT Review comes from Just Wright Speech!

This past year at school, I was given preschoolers on my caseload! After working a whole year with the little ones, I have started gathering more preschool/early elementary products! Today's review is no exception! I love a good activity for categories!

What is included:
  • Nine category sorting mats for the following categories:
    • toys, letters, numbers, furniture, desserts, clothing, school, sports, & tools
  • 81 category cards (9 for each category)
How it works:
First always laminate your product! Helps for durability. You can sort the category cards by just laying out the sorting mats. However, Natalie of Just Wright Speech suggests setting the category sorting mats onto a baking sheet or flat metal board. Attach little magnet pieces (sticky backed magnets from Michael's) to the back of each category card! Then the cards will stick! Love this idea! I have a few metal boards and MagneTalk Board I can use!
Other options:
Have the student label the picture, use a sentence to describe the picture, or describe the attributes of that picture. For even more fun: print two copies of the category cards and play memory or go fish!

Why this is a great buy:
Available for only $3.00 here, if you LOVE Category Sort 2, you will love it's $3.00 partner Category Sort 1 here. I own them both and love them!

Just Wright Speech is giving a copy away! Hooray! Enter here :)

TpT Tuesday? What?

Tuesday, June 11, 2013

Okay, to be honest no TpT Tuesday this week (back to regular schedule next week). Why? This is how I feel....

Anyone with me in feeling a little well, pooped?

A radio station I listen to recently had a morning segment where they asked moms and dads to call in and explain what they were doing to "Just get to the finish line" with school!

1. Some of the things parents shared were hilarious, from carpool not working out, so the kids didn't go to school, to "oh darn, your gym clothes are dirty? Wear them anyway I'm too tired."
2. I WISH I could have called in with things I feel like I have been doing....but that doesn't sound all that good coming from an educator now does it?

I don't cut corners when it comes to work, it's just not in my nature. However, when I get home things have been a bit of a mess! Laundry, dishes, watering my plants (oops), forgetting appointments, to planning my wedding!

Needless to say, I think I can speak for a few SLPs out there who are ready for summer vacation! We need a little bit of a brain break!! Speaking of brain breaks...have you ever searched pinterest for "Brain Break" lots of cute ideas, click here.

Thanks for continuing to read, I have posts already planned for next week! Back to my regular schedule. Also starting NEW products (finally!)
See you soon!

June SLP Link Up!

Saturday, June 8, 2013

It's JUNE! The lovely ladies over at All Y'all Need/Oh, How Pintearesting! Have set up another link-up! I love these things!

Jamming to reggae music! Since I have moved to Southern California (3 years ago) I have become addicted to listening to reggae! All different types and artists. My favorite is Rebelution and Iration. Even a bit of Slightly Stoopid. I have been going to a few concerts here and there. For some reason Southern California, living close to the beach and reggae music just mix well! I also find that the rhythm and messages of the songs helps me relax.

Unwinding at the beach! I don't mean to brag (but I kind of do) I am lucky to live in beautiful Carlsbad, CA. Right now we are experiencing what is called June Gloom. The entire month of June we hardly see the sun, and it's cold and "gloomy" due to the marine layer that never leaves! I am looking forward to July/August when the sun comes back out and I can enjoy the beach!

Needing school to be over! 3 more days! No, seriously! I am so ready to be done. It has been a trying year. I just counted how many assessment reports I wrote...72!! That's an average of a report/assessment about every 3 days. I have no idea how I managed to get them all done. Happy that it's all over, no more IEPs. The last 3 days are cleaning my room, putting up new bulletin boards and cute stuff! Hooray! I get to stay at my site 5 days a week next year and supervise a CF! Looking forward to it!

Excited about my wedding! I am getting married in August! I am excited for school to be over so I can spend some time making wedding favors, organizing the last minute details. This is when I become very thankful I have summers off. Cannot believe time has gone by this fast and my wedding is less than 2 months away!

CLICK HERE to see other SLPs who have "linked up".

Ready to link up? Here are the rules:
1) Give credit where due - link to original ideas/blog posts, TpT/TN stores, etc.
2) Feel free to mention your own products, but please include items from other people. The purpose is networking.
3) After submitting your blog, visit four more blogs and make comments.

"Moore" Help for the SLPs in Oklahoma!

Saturday, June 1, 2013

Hi everyone!
I want to make sure you are all aware of something really cool! A BIG group of SLPs who have Teachers pay Teachers stores have come together to help Moore, Oklahoma. I have donated my WH Whale Questions to a massive bundle, here is "moore" information:

What is it? Two HUGE bundles each worth over $140+!!  Each bundle of SLP materials is available to you for only $15 each! ($280+ worth of product for only $30).
What is even better? ALL proceeds go directly to Moore's paypal account and no where else. Cool right?
The 2 bundles should be available until June 30th! You have plenty of time to save $30 for this great cause and you get TONS of materials out of it (I totally have to go make my purchase! Excited!).
We also have some great companies that have donated to the 4 SLPs who lost everything in the tornado.
For "moore" information on what is included in the bundles and to see who is participating check out Amy's blog:
Don't want the bundles (seriously you don't?), or if you want to donate MOORE, Amy has posted a direct link to donate to paypal on her blog. If you would like to donate other materials contact Amy using her blog, to get her address to send materials (or just love in cards or pictures).
There has also been a Facebook page set up to show your support, and to look for updates! Click: HERE
